The Adventure Finally Begins!

Setting Sail (Finally): The Ohana Saga

Back in 2019, I bought Ohana down in Stuart, Florida—the very last Antares 44i before they switched to a new design with a longer cockpit enclosure. Fancy? Sure. Practical? Well… not if you actually like seeing your sails while sailing.

Fast forward four years (yes, you read that right). Turns out, buying a boat and actually sailing it are two very different things. In that time, I:
✔️ Learned how to sail her (without too much swearing)
✔️ Earned my 50T USCG Captain’s License (because why not go all in?)
✔️ Customized her for my scuba “addiction” by adding a dive compressor to fill tanks
✔️ Learned how to service and repair all her systems (because boat maintenance bills are terrifying…and after all, I am a Biomedical Engineer, trained to fix eletro-mechanical-fluidic devices)
✔️ Wrestled my MOG Antibody Disease into submission so I can actually enjoy all of the above

And now… it’s finally time to set sail!

For my first official single-handed adventure, I’m heading from Annapolis down to Oriental, NC, via the ICW. Plan is to visit the Antares factory marina, Marina Craft Marina. Just me, Ohana, and whatever surprises the sea has in store. What could possibly go wrong?

Stay tuned. 😎
